A hike to lake in VT

The next day we hiked to a lake deep in the woods.

A nice trail in VT

The Payoff
A nice hike in VT. As we got higher there were less signs of foot traffic. Laziness theory strikes again (people won't go further than they they can easily carry a cooler full of beer).

On the trail we were passed by two young fit trail runners who flew past me plodding along in my German foot castles.

Rattlesnake Cliffs YIKES!

Buying boots at Limmers

Last week I realized a long time dream and bought shoes at Limmer's shoe store in New Hampshire.

They have been making custom hiking boots for three generations. The current store is run by Peter Limmer(the shoe maker) and Karl who repairs boots for people.

I did not buy custom boots (~$700 and two years wait) instead I bought German made copies of the custom boots, fit by Karl.

The boots are "Lightweights" -- really pretty sturdy by anyone's standards and the model suggested to me by Karl.

I put them to use right away.
